Pompeo: (Q11) Three Ideas to Enhance Community & Parental Involvement

In the absence of evidence, of parent’s perceptions of differences among elementary schools I do not believe that they are a problem. To enhance community and parental involvement I would see that Parents’ Nights were planned for 1.) student initiated programs 2.) after progress reports are issued to students.

Pompeo: (Q12) Three Changes To Improve District's Hiring Practices

While Medford has had difficulty in recruiting diverse faculty, I believe that its hiring process is effective. The Affirmative Action Job Fair should be an annual event. Outreach efforts to hire more faculty that is representative of our student population should be stepped up.

I feel that Medford’s religious holiday policy, based on the criterion of attendance is appropriate. Not scheduling tests or similar work on such days makes good sense.

Pompeo: (Q14) Strategies Against Classroom Overcrowding

Most class sizes in Medford are in the 19-22 range. Some specialty classes are smaller, particularly in the elementary grades, while popular courses at the secondary level may be in the 25-28 range.
